    How to free up RAM on Windows 10

    There is nothing more annoying than a slow computer. The main reason behind the slow working of the computer has high CPU usage. Thus, your computer slows after some time. Sometimes your computer becomes slow due to memory leaks and power surges. You can’t control such factors. But, if your computer is slowing due to RAM, you can fix your computer. All you need to do is free up your computer RAM. Once you have cleared the memory, your computer will start working properly. If you want the best performance from your computer, then make sure that your memory usage is optimized, but before moving ahead, we’ll describe what RAM does if you are not familiar.

    How to free up RAM on Windows 10

    RAM stands for Random Access Memory, also known as the computer’s primary memory that holds the program currently running on your computer. That means the more RAM that’s inside your computer, the more program you can run at once without negatively affecting performance. When windows run more program that your RAM unable to handle it uses a part of hard drive called the page file that acts as “virtual memory” and move some programs there. But this much slower than actual RAM, which i9s why you notice windows 10 slow performance issues.

    1. Restart your PC

    As we know, RAM is volatile, so all the contents are lost as the computer shuts down. It is restarting your PC shall also clear memory and restarts all the running programs. It would not increase your total RAM but cleans the unwanted processes running in the system that might be eating your memory.

    • Click on the start menu and search for task manager or {ctrl + shift + Esc to open task manager.}

    3. Uninstall unnecessary software’s

    With the idea of the apps and software using more RAM by checking RAM usage, you are all set to uninstall more RAM using software that is rarely in use by you. For uninstalling the software’s follow the steps given below:

    • Click on apps and then app features.

    4. Use lighter apps

    For less consumption of RAM, always prefer lighter apps; E.g., If your computer struggles to open Photoshop, try using smaller apps like Paint.net or GIMP for minor edits. Also, close the software’s that you are not actively working with. Bookmark open browsers that you want to read later, and then close up to free up RAM.

    5. Scan for virus and malware

    Sometimes your compute4r might have been infected by malware and viruses, which slow down your computer. So you must regularly check your computer for viruses or malware with an updated antivirus or antimalware.

    6. Disable unnecessary startup programs

    Disable the unnecessary startup programs that launch every time your computer starts and occupies the RAM. Following are the steps to disable the unnecessary programs.

    • Open task manager in your computer{steps mentioned above }

    • Start Up TabYou can sort the list according to the startup impact.
    • Right-click on the applications that you don’t want to run at startup and select “Disable”.

    We install browser extensions to use additional features it provides. But many times, these extensions are also the origin of malware and act as a threat to your PC. So, removing these extensions can free up your RAM.

    8. Turn of visual effects

    Windows 10 is full of busy visual effects for windows, menus and tooltips, and more. And disabling these effects can significantly increase available memory.

    9.Adjust virtual memory

    • Click on the start menu and select control panel to option
    • Switch the category view in the top-right to small icons {if needed} and choose a system
    • Click on advanced system settings available on the left side

    • Manage box checked and let windows take care of it. But you can uncheck this and set the initial size and maximum size to higher values.
