    As you might be aware, a custom resolution gives you more control over adding screen resolution and refresh rate to your monitor. As a result, a substantial number of users plan to use Windows 10 to set a custom resolution. This is a step-by-step guide to create Custom Resolutions on Windows 10 which is useful to adjust & create graphics settings for you.

    How to create Custom Resolutions on Windows 10
    Based on your graphics card and display, Windows 10 lets you choose a screen resolution from a selection of standard screen resolutions. Build a custom resolution on Windows 10 if you want more versatility to add more screen resolution and adjust the refresh rate for the monitor.
    The basic steps for customizing the resolution in Windows 10 differ depending on the graphics card manufacturer. As a result, the following instructions are based on three standard graphics cards (NVidia, AMD, and Intel).

    Not all graphics card manufacturers, especially for older devices, have custom mode allowed in their drivers. In addition, the custom resolution feature may not be available in older graphics drivers. As a result, you can upgrade the graphics card driver to the most recent version before continuing.

    How to set custom resolution on Windows 10 with NVidia Graphics Card.

    Use NVidia Control Panel

    • Right-click on the space of your Windows desktop and pick the NVidia Control Panel from the context menu.

    • Expand the Display category in the pop-up window and press Change resolution on the left pane.

    • Scroll down to the right section and press the Customize button under Choose the resolution.

    • Select the checkbox of “Enable resolutions not exposed by the display”> click “Create Custom Resolution.”

    • Now, type the appropriate values in the boxes and click the “Test” button.

    • Save the agreement if the test is good and you’re pleased with the outcome. If that doesn’t fit, revert to the previous one.

    How to set Custom resolution on Windows 10 Based on AMD Graphics Card.

    Use The AMD Catalyst Center

    • Right-click on the empty desktop space and select the AMD catalyst control center.
    • On the left-hand, side panel go to “Information”> then select “Software.”
    • Copy the driver file chosen path text after selecting the driver file path.

    • Open the Run dialogue box, press Win + R, then type “regedit” and press Enter.

    • Registry editor windows open. Here navigate to the 2D path or Drive path that you copied in step 3.
    • Double-click the 0000 folders and inside find the DALNonStandardModesBCD1 registry key.
    • Right-click on the key > select “Edit“.
    • Here type the values that you desire, in order: The width of the resolution > The height of the resolution > Type four zeros > The refresh rate of your monitor.

    You can start the number with 0 if the values don’t add up to a four-digit number.

    • After you’ve made your selections, click OK to save your changes and restart your device.
    • When you open the AMD Catalyst Control Center after the restart, you can see the custom resolution.

    Custom Resolution Windows 10 Based on Intel Graphics

    • Right, click on the desktop, and from the menu, choose “Graphics Properties.”
    • If you’re prompted to ask for an application mode, select “Advanced Mode.”
    • Go to the “Display devices” tab and check whether the “Custom Resolutions/Modes” button is available. If that’s the case, press the button and not, then go to the program and run it.
      “C :> Windows>System32>CustomModeApp.exe”.

    • Click on the “Add” icon, then select “Yes” when prompted.
    • Next, click on the “Remove” button if you’re not satisfied with the result. If you are, then click “OK” and save the changes.

    Using Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)

    Another tool for creating a custom resolution on your Windows 10 device is CRU. It’s a program that works for NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel graphics cards. In addition, CRU works with almost any utility and can quickly adjust the resolution of your Windows 10 desktop.

    You are now aware that it is not a complicated task to change the resolution in Windows 10.

    Are custom resolutions safe?

    Yes, applying custom resolutions is entirely safe. But in some cases, it might hinder the performance of your device and affect the battery life. So one should think carefully before applying them.
